President's Greeting

On behalf of Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® thank you for visiting our website! I am happy to introduce you to Tau chapter and showcase everything that we have done, in Bloomington, Indiana on the campus of Indiana University. Since our Chapter was chartered in 1922 nearly 101 years, we have remained true to our sorority’s mission of “Service to all Mankind”.

Established in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is the oldest sorority established by African American women in our nation. Under the current leadership of our 31st International President & CEO, Danette Anthony Reed, our 2022-2026 International Program Initiatives are appropriately themed, “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service & Sisterhood”. The initiatives address six focused areas: Strengthening Our Sisterhood, Empowering Our Families, Building Our Economic Wealth, Enhancing Our Environment, Advocating for Social Justice, and Uplifting Our Local Community.

It is my sincere honor to provide this site as a resource for you to learn about our history, sisterhood, and service initiatives. We have consistently upheld our Service, Sisterhood, and Academic Excellence initiatives. Members of Tau Chapter exemplify sisterhood and service through our commitment to fostering strong relationships and exceptional community service projects.

As the Tau Chapter’s President, I'd like to thank you on behalf of the chapter for visiting our website! We encourage you to explore our website and follow us on social media to remain updated on all of the service events, programs, and efforts our chapter supports to help our communities grow and prosper.

Yours in Service,

Nia Henry
